Start with safety and care
Contact emergency services if there is immediate danger. Seek medical attention for urgent symptoms. Do not enter a road or approach a damaged vehicle to collect evidence.
Keep identifiers you already have
- The carrier or business name, if known.
- Any truck, trailer, or report number already recorded.
- The road, direction of travel, date, and approximate time.
Ask about records early
Truck records may include camera footage, driver logs, dispatch records, or vehicle data. They may not all exist or be available. Ask a lawyer whether steps to preserve evidence are needed.
Avoid assumptions
A truck’s size or branding does not prove who is legally responsible. Vehicle use, ownership, driver status, and the facts all need review.
Texas Injury Desk is not a law firm and gives no legal advice. It offers general information only, does not accept case inquiries, and reading it does not create an attorney-client relationship.
